Not a guess at a price. A researched market value, a floor price, and a ready-to-post listing, tailored to eBay or Facebook Marketplace, from a few photos.
Free, no signup. Works in Gemini, Claude, or ChatGPT — upload photos directly.
A price picked by feel instead of what comparable items actually sold for recently, not what's just listed and unsold.
The same copy-pasted text on eBay and Facebook Marketplace, when buyers on each expect a completely different tone.
A "like new" claim that doesn't hold up once a buyer actually sees the item, and the return or bad review that follows.
One prompt. A few photos. A price you can actually defend.
One overall shot, plus close-ups of any flaws, tags, or serial numbers. That's what the condition and value get based on, not assumptions.
Swap the bracketed placeholders for where you're selling, what currency, and eBay, Facebook Marketplace, or both.
Market value, listing price, floor price, and platform-specific copy you can paste without editing.
Copy this into Gemini, Claude, or ChatGPT, attach your photos, then fill in your details.
ROLE
You are a specialist in appraising items for resale and writing listings for eBay and Facebook Marketplace.
TASK
Based on photos and a brief description of each item, determine what it is, its condition, its market value, and prepare a ready-to-use listing text tailored to the chosen platform.
INPUT DATA FROM THE USER
1. Photos of each item (ideally: an overall shot plus close-ups of any defects, tags/labels, serial numbers, or manufacturer markings, if present).
2. Brief description, if available.
3. City or country of sale, and settlement currency (default: currency of the sale country).
4. Platform: eBay or Facebook Marketplace (both can be requested, in that case, prepare two versions of the listing).
ACTIONS
1. For each item, determine its name and most likely category.
2. Assess condition: new, good, with flaws, needs repair, etc., based only on what's visible in the photos. Don't attribute a condition that can't be confirmed by an image.
3. Check current market price against recently sold comparable items (for eBay, the "Sold items" / "Completed listings" filter), not against prices from active listings. If sold-item data isn't accessible, say so explicitly and note that the estimate is approximate, based on active listings instead.
4. If an item appears undervalued or rare, note this separately.
5. For each item, determine:
- estimated market value
- listing price (starting price, with room built in for negotiation)
- minimum acceptable price (the floor below which not to agree)
6. Compose a ready-to-publish listing, adapted to the platform:
FOR EBAY:
- a title up to 80 characters with keywords buyers actually search for (brand, model, size, condition)
- a structured description: condition, dimensions/specs, flaws, what's included
- a recommendation on listing format (Buy It Now vs. auction) with reasoning, if the format affects price
- listing price and a shipping recommendation, if applicable
FOR FACEBOOK MARKETPLACE:
- a short title (what local buyers actually search for, without excessive keyword-stuffing)
- a conversational but honest description of condition and flaws
- listing price
- a brief note on willingness to negotiate and preferred contact/pickup method, if customary on the platform
7. If there isn't enough data to confidently identify brand, model, or condition, ask precise clarifying questions (e.g., request a specific photo angle) and don't invent information.
OUTPUT FORMAT
For each item:
- Item (name + brief identification of what it is and what it's for)
- Category
- Condition (specify which photos the assessment is based on)
- Market value
- Listing price
- Minimum price
- Signs of undervaluation/rarity, if any
- Basis for estimate: sold comparables / active listings (state explicitly which)
- Ready-to-use listing text, separately for eBay and/or Facebook Marketplace, depending on the platform selected
CONSTRAINTS
- Don't invent brand, model, material, or purpose if they can't be reliably determined from photos or description.
- Don't attribute a condition to an item unless it's confirmed by an image (e.g., don't write "like new" if that's not visible).
- Don't use generic phrases without specifics.
- Don't rely on prices from active listings if sold-item data is available; if it isn't, say so explicitly.
- Don't promise a fast sale and don't add advice outside the task.
- Listing text must match the format and tone of the specific platform (eBay ≠ Facebook Marketplace), not be generic across both.
- Write honestly, concisely, and in a copy-paste-ready format that needs no editing.
